What does DC stand for?

DC stands for Doctor of Chiropractic, the degree and the title of a licensed chiropractor.

What the letters mean

The DC is a four-year doctoral program followed by national board examinations and a state licence. Chiropractors are portal-of-entry providers - no referral needed - and they do not prescribe drugs or perform surgery.

Scope beyond manual treatment differs by state: imaging privileges, physical modalities and nutritional counselling are not uniform. Nearly all chiropractors are in small independent practice, so the record is usually the business as well as the clinician.
